Customized Compounds for Functional Medicine

Functional medicine is the practice of preventative medicine rather than reactive medicine. It looks at the body as one integrated system, so if there’s an imbalance or inflammation in one part of the body, it’s most likely affecting a different part of the body. By finding the root cause of the problem, we can avoid merely covering up symptoms with medication and instead treat the initial problem.

The goal of functional medicine is to develop a treatment plan with the patient, to optimize and improve their health, starting with the source of the problem. That’s where King’s Pharmacy and Compounding Center comes in. We have a patient-centered approach and our highly-trained pharmacists can create personalized treatment options for each individual.

We work with physicians to target these root causes of patient problems, customizing therapies to meet their needs and produce the best possible health outcomes.

Lyme Disease

Lyme Disease is a very complicated condition that usually goes undiagnosed for many years. Once diagnosed, patients are usually suffering from multiple complications that arise from having this disease unchecked for so long.

First-line antibiotic treatments for Lyme Disease are commercially available, but patients often develop unresolved symptoms. That’s where King’s Pharmacy and Compounding Center steps in. We’re often able to make medications for treating Lyme and other conditions that patients are not able to obtain elsewhere. Our frequently sought-after antibiotics include Doxycycline, Nitazoxanide, and Cholestyramine.

Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS)

Lyme Disease can trigger many other conditions including Mast Cell Activation Syndrome (MCAS). Patients with MCAS usually cannot tolerate commercially available medications due to the variety of fillers and excipients that are included in these commercial drugs. Patients with sensitivities to certain inactive ingredients can have medications individually made for them at King’s Pharmacy and Compounding Center. We can create medications that are gluten-free, soy-free, sugar-free, and more.

Together with physicians, we strive to help these MCAS patients get the medications they need, compounded with the least amount of inactive ingredients.

Examples of medications that we provide for MCAS patients include (but are not limited to) Ketotifen and Cromolyn Sodium.
